Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, who is lodged in Tihar Jail, new videos are coming out every day. Because of these, the Aam Aadmi Party is the target of the opposition BJP and Congress. First, know in which case is Jain in jail.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Satyendar Jain on May 30 in connection with the Prevention of Money Laundering Case (PMLA). Since then he is lodged in Tihar Jail. According to the ED, Satyendar Jain had actual control of four shell companies used for money laundering. Whereas, co-accused Ankush Jain and Vaibhav Jain were just dummies.
On March 31, the ED provisionally attached properties worth Rs 4.81 crore belonging to companies owned and controlled by the minister. On June 6, the probe agency raided several places belonging to Satyendar Jain, his wife, and associates. Rs 2.85 crore in cash and 133 gold coins weighing 1.80 kg were recovered during the raid. Jain is accused of wrongly purchasing agricultural land. The investigation is still going on in this matter. However, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is constantly calling Satyendar Jain honest. Kejriwal claims that charges have been leveled against Jain as part of a political conspiracy.
On the other hand, the counsel for Satyendar Jain argued that his role does not come under the ambit of PMLA. Jain's counsel said that it is alleged that the money laundering conspiracy was hatched in 2010. At that time neither Jain was an MLA nor a minister. What videos came out from inside the jail and what were the allegations against Satyendar Jain?
1. Accused of extorting 10 crores from thug Sukesh: Jailed thug Sukesh Chandrashekhar accused Jain of extorting Rs 10 crores. Sukesh wrote a letter to Lieutenant Governor of Delhi VK Saxena saying that Jain extorted Rs 10 crore in the name of security and facilities in jail. This amount was taken through one of his close friends. Sukesh claimed that he had also given Rs 50 crore to the Aam Aadmi Party and in return, the party had promised to hand over responsibility in South India. Sukesh Chandrasekhar is lodged in Mandoli jail since 2017. He was also shifted to Tihar in between. Sukesh has also complained against Satyendar Jain in the High Court.
2. Accusation of massaging a rape accused in jail: Recently several videos of Satyendar Jain surfaced one after the other. In this, Satyendar Jain is allegedly seen taking massages in the jail barracks. The Aam Aadmi Party rejected these allegations. Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had said that Jain was running ill. The doctor has advised him for regular physiotherapy. He is also being given therapy in the jail barracks. However, it was later revealed that the person who was massaging Satyendar Jain was convicted of rape. He is being prosecuted under the Posco Act.
3. Accusation of getting VVIP facilities in jail: Many videos of Jain have also come in which he is meeting people while living in the barrack. Three-four people are seen sitting in his barrack. On this, the BJP alleged that Satyendar Jain was getting VVIP facilities in the jail. He is breaking all the rules.
4. Allegations of eating hotel food: A new video of Satyendar Jain surfaced today amid allegations of getting massage and VVIP facilities in jail. In this, he is seen eating food ordered from the hotel inside the jail. Recently, Jain filed a petition in the Delhi High Court saying that he was not being given food inside the jail. Due to this, his weight has also decreased by 28 kg. Responding to this, the BJP released a new video of Jain eating the food ordered from the hotel. It has been claimed that Jain has gained weight during his stay in jail.
